STUDENT MINISTRY

Our Student Ministries exist to plant, grow, and share faith with any and all students.

PLANT

We plant faith by slowly introducing our students to Jesus, the Bible, fellowship, and the church.

GROW

We grow faith by faithfully helping our students understand who Jesus is and what the Bible means for them today.

SHARE

We share faith by encouraging, empowering, and modeling how students can share the gospel with their peers and serve in their local communities.

OUR VALUES

IDENTITY

We fight to help students learn who they truly are.

SAFETY

We work to make the space, environment, and people a safe place for students to share about themselves and explore who
they are.

INCLUSIVITY

We pray that all students would come and feel welcomed by our leaders, students, and space.

FUN

We strategize so that every student can enjoy their experience.

Purpose

We listen to help students discover what they can do now and in the future.

Autonomy

We share so students can be in control.

WHAT WE DO

HIGH SCHOOL BIBLE STUDY

On Monday evenings, at 8:00pm, we have Young Life Club at Maumee High School. This is our form of weekly outreach! For directions, please see our Student Ministry Newsletter.

Senior High students meet on Wednesday nights at 6:15 pm for Bible Study. We start the evening at 5:30pm with a community dinner in Fellowship Hall.

JUNIOR HIGH YOUTH GROUP (GRADES 6-8)

Junior High students gather from 6:15-7:15 pm on Wednesday nights for Bible study and fellowship in the Youth Lounge, along with fun games and activities.

WEEKEND GATHERINGS

Once a month, we have extra activities for both Junior and Senior High, including karaoke nights, bowling,  game nights, and other activities. Look for more information in the weekly Student Ministry Update email.

MISSION ACTIVITIES

Every 4 to 6 weeks, we will partner with our local ministry partners in a service project. Exact dates and times will be provided in the weekly Student Ministry Update email.

Students serve with many of our ministry partners, including Mosaic Ministries, Swan Creek, and Maumee City Schools. There are also opportunities throughout the year to serve in other ways in the church.

RETREATS AND SUMMER CAMPS

We have many Student Ministry Retreats happening throughout the year. Some of our retreats include going to Camp Storer, Young Life camps, and Work Camps. Throughout the year, several fundraisers will take place to  help offset the cost of these life-changing camps.  Look for updated information in the newsletter.

CONFIRMATION

Confirmation is a special time in the lives of the youth. Youth in grades 7-12 are invited to participate in this rich experience of faith formation. If they were baptized as infants, the students learn what it means to confirm the vows their parents made for them at baptism.  For others, it is a time when they decide to be baptized and make the vows of  faith for themselves. We use a curriculum which considers stories throughout scripture which share the good news of God’s work of salvation offered to all people through Jesus Christ.

WHO WE ARE

Landon Rohrer

Landon is our Student Minstries Director.  He partners with Young Life and works part-time at Maumee Schools as a weightlifting and football coach to build relationships with students.  Landon gets to know all students who are connected to First Pres and throughout the community in grades 6-12.  Students attend many area schools but find connection and acceptance through a fun-filled, faith building program.  Landon and his wife, Alysa live locally in Maumee.

Riley Delbin

Riley is a School Counselor in Findlay and a Young Life Leader, who spends time with and mentors High School students, leads girls’ Bible studies, and goes to camp with the students each summer.

Molly Elrod

Molly is a member here at First Pres and helps with our Junior High students. Molly, her husband Ken and son, Bennett reside in Maumee.
