Wayne Whitten
Church Organist
Wayne joined the First Pres Maumee staff in 2006. He began piano studies at age 9 in his hometown of Macon, Georgia. After several years of piano study, he took an interest in the organ and began organ lessons at age 16. Upon graduation from high school, he enrolled at Berry College in Rome Georgia as an organ major. He attended Berry College for two years before transferring to the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM) where he completed Bachelor of Arts and Masters degrees in organ performance. He has served as organist and choir director at several churches of varying denominations in Cincinnati, Columbus, and the Toledo area. Wayne also has a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from The Ohio State University and retired from General Motors after 32 years of service. Wayne and his wife Marcia reside in Lambertville, Michigan with their two Yorkshire terriers Bailey and Chloe. They enjoy traveling, scuba diving, golf, and spending time with and spoiling their granddaughter Ava Whitten, daughter of Wayne’s son Jason and his wife Mandi.
