Worship at
First Pres
Our services are centered around the reading and preaching of the Word, with prayers, hymns and songs that are rich in scriptural truths. When we gather, we seek to remember and celebrate that:
- We are a people of hope, called by God to worship him
- We can approach our Holy God in confidence through confession, because of the saving work of Jesus Christ on the cross
- The Holy Spirit is present and working in each of us to help us receive the Word of God
- God calls us to be a part of his story, and we respond to this call through giving, prayer, and the sacrament of Communion
- We are called to share the good news and love of Christ with our neighbors
The worship leadership of the church is continually working to help the congregation grow in relationship with Christ through times of gathered worship. We recognize that God calls us to gather as a church family in order to give him praise, to support and encourage one another, and to witness to the world around us. We work to be a singing congregation, recognizing that worship calls for active participation from the church body.
Services are typically 70 minutes. We celebrate the sacrament of Holy Communion on the first Sunday of the month.

Livestreams of both our 9:00 am Modern Service and our 10:45 Traditional Service can be accessed at firstpresmaumee.online.church. We also livestream to both Facebook and YouTube. Past services can be viewed on our YouTube Channel.
First Pres Maumee has a parking lot accessible by Gibbs Street right off East Broadway. There are a number of handicap-accessible parking spaces close to the church as well as an elevator inside the doors. There is plenty of street parking in front of the church along East Broadway as well.
When you enter our building, you will most likely be greeted by one of our church leaders. Any of our greeters can direct you to the Sanctuary, or if you have young children, the nursery.
Our 9:00 am Modern Service utilizes modern instrumentation (piano, guitar, drums) to lead in congregational singing. Children’s Church is offered during the sermon for children ages four through fifth grade, and our nursery is staffed by qualified leaders for infants through age three. Children are also welcome to stay in worship with their families.
Join us between services for donuts, coffee, and conversation. You can experience the life of the church by meeting people and growing in relationship with others.
Our 10:45 am Traditional Service is accompanied by our 2161-pipe organ that fills our sanctuary, supporting and enhancing congregational singing. Throughout the year, the Chancel Choir and Handbell Choir also share and lead in our times together. Our nursery is staffed by qualified leaders for infants through age three.
Children’s Church, a time for child-engaging worship activities, is offered during the 9:00 am Modern Service. Children ages four through fifth grade are invited to join Jeanette Axford, Director of Family Ministries, and our adult leaders for Children’s Church. Children gather and are sent to church with a song of prayer prior to the sermon. They return after the sermon. If this is your child’s first time in Children’s Church, please go with them to meet Mrs. Axford. The nursery is located on the same level as the Sanctuary and is staffed by qualified leaders during the entire service for infants through age three. Children are always welcome to stay in the Sanctuary for worship.
During the 10:45 am Traditional Service, the nursery is staffed by qualified leaders, and is available for infants through three years old. There is no Children’s Church during this service, however, a cart containing quiet worship activities is available in the back of the Sanctuary.
There is an elevator that accesses all floors of the church. Assisted listening devices are available as you enter the Sanctuary. Large print Bibles are also available. We have ushers and staff who will be happy to assist you. If you have any requests or questions, we encourage you to seek out a pastor, usher, or volunteer.
We seek to encourage a come-as-you-are environment. With that, you will find people who prefer casual, dressy, and business attire.
The Modern Service and the Traditional Service both take place on the second floor, in the Sanctuary. If you are entering from the parking lot, take the stairs or the elevator to the 2nd floor, then turn right. If you are entering from the front doors on East Broadway, turn left once you enter through the main doors.
